HC Deb 11 February 1988 vol 127 cc318-9W
Mr. Batiste

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what estimate he has of the proportion of the population of Wales which is not covered, in whole or in part, by private health insurance.

Mr. Grist

The 1983 general household survey indicated that 95 per cent. of the population aged 16 and over living in private households in Wales did not have private medical insurance cover. Equivalent results from the 1986 general household survey are not yet available.
