HC Deb 11 February 1988 vol 127 c319W
Mr. Roy Hughes

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what progress has been made concerning infant cardiology services in south and west Wales; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Grist

South Glamorgan health authority is readvertising the post of consultant paediatric cardiologist. Approval has been given to the development of a paediatric cardiac unit at the University hospital of Wales and work on site is planned to commence this year. On the recommendation of the Welsh medical committee, the cardiology committee of the Royal College of Physicians has been invited and has agreed to undertake, early this year, a review of the planning policies and service provision of cardiac services in south Wales for children and adults.
