To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster (1) what was the United Kingdom share of the following markets for heavy duty mining supports for the period 1981 to 1986: North America, Western Europe (excluding the United Kingdom and West Germany), Africa, the far east and Australia;

(2) what was the United Kingdom share of the following markets for heavy duty mining shearers for the period 1981 to 1985: North America, Western Europe (excluding the United Kingdom and West Germany), Africa, the far east and Australia;

(3) what was the United Kingdom share of the following markets for heavy duty mining face conveyors for the period 1981 to 1985: North America, Western Europe (excluding the United Kingdom and West Germany), Africa, the far east and Australia.

To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster (1) what was the total value in 1987 of exports of British-produced heavy duty longwall mining equipment;

(2) what was the total value in 1987 of exports of home-produced mining equipment, excluding heavy duty longwall mining equipment.

Mr. Atkins

Information on exports of home-produced mining equipment is not available. However, total exports of mining equipment for 1987 amounted to £86.8 million; this figure may include some re-exported goods.
