HC Deb 10 February 1988 vol 127 c215W
Mr. Tony Lloyd

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what information he has as to(a) the age of drivers stopped and asked to take a breathalyser test and (b) the age of those failing such a test.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

Information on all those required to provide a roadside screening breath test is published annually in Home Office statistical bulletins, the latest issue, No. 24/87, giving figures for 1986. The bulletin does not include information by age of driver, because these details are not collected centrally. However, information on the ages of those found guilty of driving and so on with excess alcohol is published in table 15 of "Offences Relating to Motor Vehicles, England and Wales, 1986, Supplementary Tables", and of those breath-tested after accidents involving personal injury in table 36 of "Road Accidents, Great Britain, 1986", copies of both of which are in the Library.
