To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will discuss with Civil Aviation Authority making the maximum information available to the public regarding the near-miss involving a British Airways plane and a Bulgarian aircraft.

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will ascertain from the Civil Aviation Authority whether lack of command of the English language has been a contributing factor in near-miss incidents.

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will ascertain from the Civil Aviation Authority whether the near-miss involving a British Airways plane and a Bulgarian aircraft was in any way contributed to by defective air traffic control equipment.

I refer my hon. Friend to the statement made by my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State on Monday 8 February. This is a matter which will be considered by the investigation being conducted by the chief inspector of accidents.
