HC Deb 09 February 1988 vol 127 cc189-90W
109. Mr. Ashley

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will visit the North Staffordshire health district to inspect the new surgical block due to open shortly.

Mrs. Currie

I hope to visit the unit some time this year.

Mr. Scott

Up to 2 February we have received a total of 69 letters concerning the Government's proposal to withdraw the general entitlement to income support from 16 and 17-year-olds. Like representations made by hon. Members during the passage through the House of the current Social Security Bill, most of the letters expressed concern about particular groups such as lone parents, the homeless, the disabled and those in education. The representations made will be fully considered when the regulations are framed to exempt certain groups of people from the general provision.
