HC Deb 09 February 1988 vol 127 cc188-9W
100. Mr. Wall

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will make a statement on the number of cases of discrimination against disabled people which have been referred to his Department in each of the last three years; and what action he has taken.

Mr. Scott

The numbers of complaints of alleged discrimination against disabled people referred to the Department in each of the last three years were as follows:

Numbers
1985 Two
1986 none
1987 Four

Of those six complaints, in one case there was no evidence of discrimination; in two cases we requested further information from the complainant but received no response; one complaint was resolved in favour of the complainant during the course of our inquiries; and two cases are still outstanding.
