As part of the Deprtment's control of the private sector all these places are subject to unannounced visits of inspection. Those places specialising in abortion are visited more frequently by both medical-nursing and investigative officers. In the course of these visits, the operation of approved places is observed closely with regard to the conditions of approval under which they are required to operate, the facilities and equipment provided, medical and nursing practice and administrative and financial arrangements.
