§ Mr. HindTo ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science what grants he has allocated to Lancashire county council for 1988–89; what were the allocations for 1987–88; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. DunnLancashire LEA's allocation for prescribed capital expenditure on schools and further and higher education in 1988–89 is £12.809 million; its allocation in 1987–88 was £5.994 million. Next year's allocation is 113 per cent. higher than this year's, and represents 50 per cent. of its planned expenditure compared with the national average of 39 per cent. In addition, the authority has been allocated £3.298 million for expenditure by governors of voluntary aided and special agreement schools in 1988–89 compared with £0.793 million in 1987–88, which represents an increase of 316 per cent. and is the second highest allocation made.
