To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he intends to change the levels of staffing at his Department's offices in view of the changes in the social security regime in April; and if he will make a statement.

The results of the annual local office recomplementing exercise for the 1988–89 year are expected to be announced in March 1988. These will take account of a number of factors including procedural changes arising from the implementation of income support and social fund.
