Mr. Bowis

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science (1) what percentage of school leavers during the academic years 1985–86 and 1986–87 had no graded examination results in(a) England, (b) the Inner London education authority, (c) Birmingham, (d) Croydon, (e) Leeds, (f) Manchester, (g) Liverpool, (h) Kingston, (i) Barnet and (j) Harrow;

(2) what percentage of all school leavers in the academic years 1985–86 and 1986–87 had at least five exam passes at grades A, B or C in 0-level or grade one in CSE in (a) England, (b) the Inner London education authority, (c) Birmingham, (d) Croydon, (e) Leeds, (f) Manchester, (g) Liverpool, (h) Kingston, (i) Barnet and (j) Harrow.
