Mr. Peter Walker

The Welsh Development Agency is still developing its detailed plans for all elements of its 1988–89 budget. Its property development programme for the year was published on 28 January and is available in the Library of the House. Other information on the agency's programmes is not yet available on a district basis.

Demand for starter units in Alyn and Deeside is strong and the agency's latest factory programme and property development initiative arc aimed at meeting it.

Present estimates suggest that in 1988–89 agency-related factory floor space will increase by nearly 140,000 sq ft or 17 per cent. at Deeside industrial park. It is too early to forecast the outcome of the property development initiative on accommodation at Engineer park.

The Welsh Development Agency plans to spend up to £1 million on infrastructure at Deeside industrial park in order to pave the way for futher development.
