HC Deb 03 February 1988 vol 126 c663W
Mr. Spearing

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what steps his Department has taken to test the electronic or mechanical efficiency of the telecommunications equipment at the headquarters of the London ambulance service; if he is satisfied with the arrangements made with British Telecom plc; and if he will make a statement.

Mrs. Currie

Arrangements for the testing of electronic and mechanical efficiency of the telecommunications equipment at the headquarters of the London ambulance service are the responsibility of the South West Thames regional health authority as managers of the service.

Mr. Spearing

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what specific allocation of funds he makes to the South West Thames regional health authority in respect of the London ambulance service.

Mrs. Currie

No specific figure is identified for the London ambulance service in the allocation of funds made by the Department to the South West Thames regional health authority. However, I understand that the regional health authority has set aside £45 million from its 1988–89 budget for this purpose.
