To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on the current situation in Cyprus.

For the last few months, attention in Cyprus has been focused on the presidential election which is to take place on 14 February. Once the election is over, we believe the United Nations Secretary-General's new permanent special representative will begin fresh efforts to find a way forward.

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he has any plans to make an official visit to Cyprus; and if he will make a statement.

My right hon. and learned Friend has no present plans to visit Cyprus.
