However, overseas residents made about 450,000 overnight visits to Surrey in 1986 and spent about £95 million. The latest data on employment in tourism-related industries in Surrey relate to September 1984 when there were an estimated 21,600 employees in employment. This figure excludes self-employed persons for whom a comparable estimate is not available.
