§ Mr. AmessTo ask the Secretary of State for Transport what road work plans and improvements are due to be carried out on the A127 and A13 within the Basildon constituency over the next two years.
§ Mr. Peter BottomleyA new local road bridge is under construction over the A127 near the Fortune of War roundabout. It will facilitate the removal of this roundabout and junction. Draft orders authorising the closure of the existing side roads should be published this spring. Other improvements including the scope for widening the A127 to dual three-lane are still under consideration.
The A13 through Basildon is not a national road. Its improvement is the responsibility of Essex county council.
