At 31 December 1987, the latest date for which figures are available, there were 417,500 young people in training on YTS and 24,400 people on the new job training scheme. Figures for the numbers in training on any given date are not available for other adult training schemes. Since 1979, the earliest date for which figures are readily available about 3,413,000 starts have been recorded on MSC training schemes.
