HC Deb 02 February 1988 vol 126 cc587-8W
Mr. Ronnie Campbell

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services how many cases of meningitis have been reported in the Northern regional health authority and Northumberland district health authority areas in each year from 1985.

Mrs. Currie

Meningitis may be caused by a number of different organisms. The hon. Member may be particularly interested in meningococcal meningitis: the table shows notifications of cases for this and for all forms of acute meningitis.

Mr. Chris Scott

I regret that no information is available concerning the number of households in the Blyth Valley area who are in receipt of supplementary benefit heating additions.
