HC Deb 02 February 1988 vol 126 cc588-9W
Mr. Smith

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what is his estimate of the number of severely disabled people currently receiving attendance allowance who will not receive severe disability premium as a result of its restriction to people living alone without carers who receive invalid care allowance.

Mr. Scott

It is estimated that of the 174,000 supplementary benefit claimants who receive attendance allowance, or whose partner or dependant does, 7,000 will receive the severe disability premium in income support. Similar information is not available for those not in receipt of income support who claim housing benefit.
