§ 77. Mr. Evennett
To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what are the latest trends in the number of vacancies reported to jobcentres; and if he will make a statement.

§ Mr. Lee
The number of new vacancies notified to jobcentres in the United Kingdom increased by 6.2 per cent. over the past 12 months to reach 236,100 in the month ending 4 December 1987.

§ 78. Mr. Sumberg
To ask the Secretary of State for Employment if he will make a statement on the number of job vacancies in the north-west.

§ Mr. Lee
The number of unfilled vacancies registered at jobcentres in the north-west region on the 4 December 1987 was 22,010.
