To ask the Secretary of State for Employment how many new jobs have been created through hotel expansion in the Manchester area over the past two years.

Mr. Lee

The past two years have seen considerable growth in hotel provision in the Manchester area. It is estimated that nearly 1,800 full-time and part-time jobs have been created in hotel developments during that period in the cities of Manchester and Salford.
