HC Deb 02 February 1988 vol 126 c541W
Mr. Foulkes

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he has made any reassessment of the ability of Chilean exiles in the United Kingdom to return home safely in the light of the detention of Luis Tricot and Rocio Reyes and the subsequent alleged torture of Señor Tricot.

Mr. Eggar

I am aware of the practical difficulties which Chilean exiles may face on return from the United Kingdom to their own country. Her Majesty's ambassador remains in touch with returnees, and I understand that this is welcomed. But, as far as I am aware, returnees are not being singled out for harassment. The embassy has made representations on behalf of the Irish Government about Senor Tricot's case.
