HC Deb 02 February 1988 vol 126 c533W
Mr. Maples

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy whether he has any changes to announce to his Department's cash limits and running cost limit for 1987–88.

Mr. Parkinson

The cash limit for class VI, vote 2, has been reduced by £1 million to £250.272 to offset expenditure in connection with the privatisation of the electricity supply industry in England and Wales. Provision for this new expenditure was voted in a Winter Supplement Estimate for class VI, vote 7.

In addition, the cash limit for class VI, vote 3, has been reduced by £0.05 million to £22.823 million. This change arises from the transfer of £0.05 million to the Department of Employment (class VII, vote 4) as a special contribution towards increased costs in 1987–88 associated with the recruitment and staffing of the Health and Safety Executive's Nuclear Installations Inspectorate. My Department's running cost limit has also been reduced by a similar amount to £26.301 million.
