§ 60. Mr. CohenTo ask the Secretary of State for Transport if, when he next meets the chairman of British Rail, he will raise with him the quality of service provided by British Rail's Network SouthEast.
§ Mr. David MitchellWe regularly monitor the quality of service on Network SouthEast services and we discuss it with the chairman as necessary. So far NSE's performance during 1987–88 suggests that quality is generally improving compared with 1986–87. For example, overall reliability and punctuality have been significantly better during much of the year. NSE is also planning major investments to improve quality. For example, it plans to invest about £400 million in new trains over the next five years.
