§ 51. Mr. FallonTo ask the Secretary of State for Transport what information he has as to the implications for the decision to build the Dartford-Thurrock crossing of capacity in the British steel industry.
§ Mr. Peter BottomleyThe 38,000 tonnes of steel which will be required for construction of this proposed new bridge represents a significant potential order for the British steel production and fabrication industry. It would create some 2,500 man years of work most of which would be in the north-east of England and Scotland.
