HC Deb 01 February 1988 vol 126 c505W
51. Mr. Fallon

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what information he has as to the implications for the decision to build the Dartford-Thurrock crossing of capacity in the British steel industry.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

The 38,000 tonnes of steel which will be required for construction of this proposed new bridge represents a significant potential order for the British steel production and fabrication industry. It would create some 2,500 man years of work most of which would be in the north-east of England and Scotland.
