To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security how many households, at the most recent date for which figures are available, were having weekly deductions made from their supplementary benefit/income support for (i) electricity and (ii) gas (a) of under £2 per week and (b) in each £1 band above £2 per week up to £30 per week.

The latest figures available show that in May 1987 supplementary benefit recipients were having deductions made from their weekly benefit for electricity and gas as follows:
