Satellite Television Dishes

Mr. Rowe

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment under what powers he intends to regulate the installation and siting of satellite television dishes; and if he will make a statement.

The Town and Country Planning Act 1971 and subordinate legislation already control the installation and siting of satellite television dishes. The Town and Country Planning General Development Order 1988 allows one satellite antenna to be erected on a house or within its curtilage without specific planning permission provided the antenna is not more than 90 cm in diameter and does not project above the roofline of the house.
