§ Mr. Peter LloydIncome support transitional protection is provided under the Income Support (Transitional) Regulations 1987. It is estimated that some 1.4 million former supplementary benefit recipients got this protection when income support was introduced in April 1988. It is further estimated that some 500,000 income support recipients will have transitional additions after the uprating of this benefit in April 1989.
