To ask the Secretary of State for Employment if he will give details of the impact of changes in the method of calculating unemployment figures since 1979 on the figures for the Stretford constituency.

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment if he will publish a table showing what information he has for Greater Manchester as to the average weekly wage for(a) full-time male employees, (b) part-time male employees, (c) full-time female employees and (d) part-time female employees in both cash terms and real terms based on 1987–88 prices, for each year since 1979.

Mr. Allen

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment if he will publish in theOfficial Report the unemployment figures for each quarter from 1971 onwards, calculated on the same basis as last week's figures and publish alongside them the figures released at each quarter by his Department.

The table shows the latest seasonally adjusted unemployment figures consistent with the current coverage, together with the seasonally adjusted unemployment figures as published at the time for the United Kingdom, quarterly from January 1971.
