§ 24. Mr. McLeishTo ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will give the total number of employees in employment and the total number of employees in manufacturing industry, standard industrial classification 2–4, in Scotland in June 1979 and June 1987.
§ Mr. LangThe total number of employees in employment is estimated to have been 2,102,000 in June 1979 and 1,886,000 in June 1987. For manufacturing the figures are 604,000 for June 1979 and 395,000 for June 1987.
