HC Deb 27 April 1988 vol 132 c188W
26. Mr. Allan Stewart

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what recent discussions he has had with the Confederation of British Industry (Scotland) concerning the Scottish economy; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Lang

My right hon. and learned Friend keeps in frequent touch with the Confederation of British Industry (Scotland) on matters concerning the Scottish economy. When addressing CBI members in Glasgow on 19 February he called attention to the significant advances made in the Scottish economy in recent years and to the favourable conditions for further growth which has been created by the Government's policies to stimulate enterprise and improve competitiveness.
