HC Deb 26 April 1988 vol 132 cc139-40W
Mr. Dobson

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what consideration he has given to establishing a development corporation or trust to oversee the development of King's Cross goods yard; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Trippier

[holding answer 25 April 1988]: My right hon. Friend is satisfied that the normal mechanism of the planning system is the proper way to resolve the future of this site. However, in view of the scale and importance of the proposals, he wishes to have an opportunity to consider whether any major application for the site should be called-in for his decision. He has therefore made a direction requiring Camden council to consult him before any planning application of over 100,000 sq ft is decided.

Mr. Dobson

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment whether his Department has met with either of the consortia proposing to develop the King's Cross goods yard.

Mr. Trippier

[holding answer 25 April 1988]: My right hon. Friend has not discussed the proposals with either of the consortia.
