HC Deb 25 April 1988 vol 132 c21W
Mr. Dalyell

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on the implications for fish farming of his research into anti-foulant tributyl.

Mr. Michael Forsyth

Following consideration of the results carried out by Government scientists the use of tributyltin-based compounds used to prevent the fouling of fish farm nets and cages is prohibited through regulations introduced last year. This has required the fish farming industry to consider alternative compounds as anti-foulants.
