HC Deb 25 April 1988 vol 132 c72W
Mr. Cohen

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if his Department has considered any proposals for joint production, design or custody of nuclear weapons with any country other than the United States of America.

Mr. Sainsbury

The United Kingdom is currently studying the requirement for a successor to its free-fall nuclear bomb. In this context, we have considered with France each country's requirement for an air-launched stand-off missile. Exchanges are continuing with a view to indentifying where British and French requirements might be similar, and assessing what merit there might be in collaboration.
