§ Mr. CousinsTo ask the Secretary of State for Employment, pursuant to paragraph 2.8 of the paper entitled "Training for Employment", if he will publish(a) the breakdown of the 700,000 vacancies by standard region and (b) the breakdown by standard region of the socio-economic, and industrial groups of the 7.5 million recruits; and if he will place a copy of the full report from IFF Research Ltd. in the Library.
§ Mr. FowlerResults of the recent survey by IFF Research Limited were published in the April 1988 edition ofEmployment Gazette, a copy of which is in the Library. This includes some analysis by region, and also by occupation, of the approximately 7.4 million vacancies filled during 1987. The nature of the survey limits the scope for more detailed analysis. The estimate of 700,000 vacancies in a typical month cannot be broken down reliably by region because of the seasonal nature of the data collected in January. A full report on the survey is not yet available.
