To ask the Secretary of State for Employment if he will introduce legislation to require employers to provide dismissed employees with reasons in writing for the termination of their employment.

Section 53 of the Employment Protection (Consolidation) Act 1978 gives an employee the right, subject to certain qualifying conditions, to be provided with a written statement giving particulars of the reasons for dismissal.
