To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a statement concerning the future provision of special needs housing by housing associations; and when he will publish the planned consultation paper on the future of hostel deficit grant.

The Government recognise the achievements of the housing association movement in the provision of special needs housing, and continue to attach great importance to the work of associations in this area. The Department's consultation paper on the future of hostel deficit grant will be issued within the next few weeks.
