To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what steps he will take to prevent licensed grocers from selling low-alcohol lager to children under 18 years.

The sale of any beverage which in strength exceeds 1.2 per cent. of ethyl alcohol to children under the age of 18 years is an offence under the Licensing (Scotland) Act 1976. Anyone possessing evidence of such an offence should bring the matter to the attention of the police.
