HC Deb 20 April 1988 vol 131 c480W
22. Mr. Andrew Smith

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what further plans he has for increasing the amount of land available for housing in the south of England; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Waldegrave

My right hon. Friend has asked the south east regional planning conference to consider the implications for housing requirements in the south-east of the new population and household projections. In light of SERPLAN's advice, we shall consider the need for revised regional guidance to county planning authorities on the appropriate scale and distribution of housing provision in county structure plans.
