HC Deb 19 April 1988 vol 131 cc386-7W
12. Mr. Malcolm Bruce

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science what representations he has received from the Universities of Dundee and Aberdeen concerning university funding.

Mr. Jackson

While we have received a number of representations, including some from hon. Members, about the position of Aberdeen and Dundee, we have had no recent approaches from the universities themselves. The two universities are in continuing discussion with the University Grants Committee about planning for the future.

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether he has any plans to meet the University Grants Committee to discuss the funding of Scottish universities; and if he will make a statement.

41. Mr. Darling

Mr. Jackson

I refer the hon. Members to the answer I gave on 19 January, at column675. to the hon. Members for Fife, Central (Mr. McLeish) and for Kirkaldy (Dr. Moonie).
