HC Deb 19 April 1988 vol 131 cc374-5W
Mr. Campbell-Savours

To ask the Secretary of State For Social Services if he will list the latest figures available For the number of ancillary staff employed in the National Health Service, by job title, under the terms and conditions of the Ancillary Staffs Whitley council agreements.

Mr. Newton

Provisional figures show that 115,000 whole-time equivalent ancillary staff were employed in the NHS in England at 30 September 1987. Since the introduction of a revised grading structure in 1986, the agreements of the Ancillary Staffs Whitley council no longer provide for job titles.
