Mr. Steel

To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what steps he is taking to ensure that United Nations Security Council resolution 558 is being respected within Britain.

We implement fully the terms of the voluntary United Nations Council Resolution 558 of 1984.

Mr. Steel

To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster if he will make a statement on Her Majesty's Government's policy on the advertisement of South African-manufactured arms in British publications.

Mr. Butcher

The Government are not aware of such advertisements. However, we operate a strict and rigorously controlled embargo on the import of arms, ammunition, military vehicles and paramilitary equipment from South Africa.
