HC Deb 18 April 1988 vol 131 cc284-5W
Mr. Vaz

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many applications were made for passports at each of the passport offices in 1985, 1986, 1987 and since 1 January, respectively.

Mr. Renton

The information is not available in precisely the form requested. The table shows the number of new passports issued and amendments made to existing passports in each of the last three years, and in the first three months of this year. It is estimated that about 365,000 applications of all types were at the various stages of processing within the six United Kingdom passport offices at the end of March 1988.
