§ 83. Mr. HindTo ask the Attorney-General if he will make a further statement on the progress of the Crown prosecution service.
§ The Attorney-GeneralI refer my hon. Friend to the answers I gave to the right hon. and learned Member for Aberavon (Mr. Morris) on 26 February 1988 at columns353–54. I am pleased to be able to refer, too, to the pay offer that the Treasury has recently made to the unions that represent the great majority of lawyers in the Crown prosecution service. This offer would secure a substantial rise in their pay with immediate effect. I am confident that this will lead to a marked improvement in our recruitment figures, and will better reward those who have worked with such commitment since the early days of the service.
