HC Deb 26 October 1987 vol 121 c43W
Mr. Cryer

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether the possibility of a rail link between Bradford Interchange and the Bradford Foster Square rail route was taken into account when drawing up plans for a courthouse development in Bradford on the former Exchange station site; whether the local authority made representations for the rail link; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Chope

The possibility of a rail link (between Bradford Interchange and Bradford Foster Square rail route) was drawn to the attention of the Property Services Agency by the city of Bradford metropolitan council when it accepted in outline form the proposed development of a courthouse on the former Exchange station site. The PSA examined the implications of such a link on the proposed courthouse development and reported that in its view the two developments could not share the same site. This view was endorsed by the council earlier this year when it authorised PSA to proceed with the courthouse development as programmed.
