HC Deb 26 October 1987 vol 121 c42W
Mr. Thurnham

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will give further consideration to the payment of objectors' costs at green belt planning appeals; and if he will make a statement.

Mrs. Roe

The Government's response to the fifth report of the Environment Committee (Cm 43) set out in paragraphs 63–65 our reasons for concluding against public funding of costs incurred by objectors in appearing at public inquiries. I see no grounds for making an exception in respect of planning appeals for development in the green belt.
