§ Mr. Wrayasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he has had talks with his European counterparts aimed at common medical research arrangements to enhance the prospects of scientific advance in treatment to improve the use of funds for such purposes.
§ Mrs. CurrieMy right hon. and learned Friend the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster recently attended the Council of Ministers of the European Communities in Brussels on behalf of Her Majesty's Government.
The Council adopted a new framework programme of research and development which makes provision for a programme of medical and health research to include work on AIDS, cancer and preventive medicine. That programme is expected to be approved in the near future.
