HC Deb 26 October 1987 vol 121 cc141-2W
Mr. Nigel Griffiths

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will review his decision of February 1985 to force the incorporation of 2,300 more private housing units on green-belt and green infill sites in and around Edinburgh.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

My right hon. and learned Friend has made no such decision. He approved in February 1986 the revised Lothian region structure plan. One of the policies in the plan requires the City of Edinburgh district council to identify sites for a further 2,300 houses to be available after 1991. Where these sites are found is essentially a matter for the district council. It is the responsibility of the regional council to monitor the implementation of the plan and bring forward alterations.
