HC Deb 26 October 1987 vol 121 c57W
Mr. Wray

asked the Secretary of State for Transport (1) what discussions he is having with British Rail regarding the effects on its electricity supplies of the privatisation of electricity, generation and supply system;

(2) what representations he has received from community organisations, consumer associations, and the general public regarding the effects of the privatisation of the electricity production and distribution system on the costs of the electricity supplies to the railways system;

(3) what assessment he has made of the implications for the efficiency of British Rail of the proposed privatisation of the electricity supply industry.

Mr. David Mitchell

I have received no representations on this matter. It is in the first instance for the Railways Board to consider the possible implications for the operation of the railway.
