§ Mr. Wareingasked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what representations he has made to the 914W Government of the United States of America in respect of the likely effects upon British trade of the Common Trade Bill currently before the United States Congress; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. AtkinsThe Government are working closely with the European Commission and our Community partners to ensure that the US Administration and Congress are fully aware of the Community's serious concern that a number of provisions in the draft trade legislation currently before the Congress would have a damaging effect on trade, and to emphasise that the Community will act if necessary to safeguard its rights under the GATT.
